First Loves

For this series I made double portraits of boys and girls between the age of ten and twelve who were in a couple.
I was interested in capturing something so vulnerable and fleeting:  they belong together by dint of a agreement, but are unable to put this idea into practice, because they are still in their childhood.
In most cases at this age this ‘being in a couple’ only exists at school.
Because I isolated them by photographing them in their home setting, they were dependent only on each other for the first time.
